My deepest sympathy goes out to families whose loved ones were cruelly snatched from them these past days, weeks, months and years, by greedy corrupt incompetent and unrepentant rulers.if you still think boko haram is solely responsible for the recent spate of bloodshed we're experiencing, then I'm sorry, but you're living in denial. Our problems are more than just taking down a group of blood thirsty extremists. We need to start realizing that there's little or no difference between our "appointed" rulers, I refuse to refer to them as elected, because to the best of my knowledge, they were not credibly elected and so can't be accorded the respect of being referred to as elected, because referring to them as elected also signifies they're winners, something we've not had in a while now. Anyway, there's little or no difference between those appointed bigots and the infamous killer sect that keeps wrecking havoc and causing us pain. The only notable difference is the fact that one prefers unleashing violence, while the other is more comfortable using the pen, propaganda and frivolous agendas to murder its citizens.
Our rulers want to make us believe that the extremist group popularly called boko haram are solely responsible for the death of hundreds of citizens but I've refused to believe that lie. Our rulers are as culpable as this blood thirsty sect. Their incompetence alone at providing security for us against this recent spate of terror is enough to point fingers at them. The nonchalant attitude at which they're handling our insecurity is another evidence and the ease at which they wittingly use our pains and sadness for political witch hunting and arguments with the opposition is appalling to say the least. Even the self dignified opposition is culpable, constantly waiting for a misfortune to befall us so they can paint themselves as saints against our rulers. It's almost like the opposition sit at home and pray for these things to happen, so they can have a chance to prove how incompetent our rulers are. Please tell us something we don't already know. We have to realize that to defeat whatever enemy we have,we need competent leaders. You may be counting only the hundreds that die from bomb blasts alone, clearly omitting the other hundreds that die from accidents caused by bad roads, thousands that die from hunger and poverty caused by unemployment and corruption. Our rulers are also extremists. They may not be religious extremists, but they're money hungry greedy extremists. They are fanatics for money. Looting our treasury at will for selfish gains. We're caught in the middle of the battle between murderous extremists and money hungry, corrupt, incompetent rulers and to an extension, the opposition. I think our rulers should be held accountable for every citizen we've lost to those misguided extremists, because they should be responsible for our well being. In fact I think our rulers are worse, because they empowered this sect by their glaring incompetence at handling anything that isn't looting. Worse still, they murder us everyday on the roads by their continuous refusal to rehabilitate those death traps. So when u do the math, you'll realize our rulers have murdered more citizens than this killer sect. So if it was a competition, our rulers would flawlessly win this sect and don't forget their incompetence birthed the new reign of terror we are experiencing.
Alone with my thoughts, I can't help but question the sincerity of our rulers. I constantly ask myself, why are they only comfortable with condemning the act? Why aren't they as pained as we are? Could it be because they haven't been directly affected? Could it be because they really don't care? All these questions need answers. Our rulers have totally failed us. They failed to even live up to the low expectations we set for them. We never asked for too much. In fact if I know us well, we never ask for too much. We are used to the usual power outage, lack of regular water supply, bad roads, corruption, but now you want us to get used to bomb blasts. I say no to that. We are collectively saying no to that. We have tolerated all your vices and incompetence through the years, but this particular one, we won't tolerate. We refuse to believe that you won't win this fight for us. We refuse to believe we can't win this fight for our generations yet unborn. It's really saddening that the only improvements we see are on the pages of newspapers, and you still take time out of your busy schedule to lie to us. How dare you? How dare you lie to us about our security situation like we are some dumb flock? We are no longer that gullible. I think you've failed to notice times have changed. Even the enemies you're fighting have changed tactics but you're too egotistic and ignorant to notice. Maybe you're more concerned with filling your bank accounts. Keep doing what you think is more important that the well being of your citizens. Soon enough this beast you created would stop hunting us and start hunting you, maybe thats when you'll start taking it seriously, or you'll probably call on your fat accounts to save you. We are watching.

SPEAK OUT
I actually wrote this piece a long time ago, but deciced to share it with you, to get your own reactions.
How did we ever degenerate to this level? What happened to the "no nonsense" demeanor we are known for? These days we are so used to tolerating rubbish, we can't even think straight any more. All we do is call on God to come solve our problems, forgetting that heaven only helps those who help themselves.
I woke up some days back to the sad news of the murder of innocent secondary school students in yobe state. At first, I didn't really pay attention to the news, because I didn't realize they were secondary school students. I thought they were students of one of the tertiary institutions in yobe state, so I thought to myself "at least they are adults". I'm not saying its okay for adults to be slaughtered, but there's a different level of sympathy when you realize they were helpless teenagers, who couldn't even fight back even if they wanted to. Now imagine what has become of my humanity, because news of senseless killings in this country, is no longer news to the populace. All we do these days is pray not to be amongst the unfortunate few that may end up at the wrong place. It's really saddening that we may not realize it, but we're slowly losing our humanity. The worst part is that we're now contented with sitting at home and condemning those acts, or raining curses at the murderers. It's not good enough, we have to do more. We have to demand for more to be done. Sending soldiers to those places to engage those murderous monsters clearly isn't good enough. To end this senseless killing spree, more has to be done by the people that have mistaken serving us for ruling us.
I am personally tired of hearing my able president condemn these acts, of course we don't expect him to endorse it. We expect more than the condemnation of these acts. The populace is slowly losing its confidence in the leadership. Don't send soldiers to go there and die for nothing, since you've refused to equip them properly. Dont send soldiers there to die, thereby increasing the population of widows and fatherless children, except you're ready to take up the role of their father and provider. You would never know how painful it is unless you lose a loved one to these monsters and I pray you never do. Can you imagine going home to find our that your lovely brother, uncle or father was beheaded by some lunatic? Or that your amazing sister, wife or mother was kidnapped, raped and beheaded by those murderous monsters. Its worse when you hear they were teenagers, teenagers that could have been future leaders. And you think it's okay to just condemn the act? Please have a rethink. Talk is cheap. The military alone can't win this battle. We all have to fight with them and win this, and How do we ordinary citizens fight? First we have to realize we aren't ordinary. We own this country and we'll make our leaders do more and they must do more.
When I say we want our leaders to do more, I'm not just talking about the elected few that are more interested in looting our treasuries. I'm also referring to those that wake up every morning to tweet, talk, and point accusing fingers at our elected few, in the name of being the opposition. Like I said, talk is cheap. We don't need any more bickering. Prove you're honorable enough and join hands with our elected leaders to tackle this common enemy. If you wait till you're elected, I don't think there'll be anyone to elect you or a country to rule. I hope you also know that we're smarter than voting a particular party. We would vote the individuals that have proven themselves worthy enough. So if you like run to that party you think is sweeping people off their feet, you'll be in for a shocker.
Please I'm appealing to those at the helm of affairs, harken to the voice of the people. Dont make us lose our confidence in your ability, because if we decide to fight this battle ourselves, we won't just be fighting the initial evil, we'll also fight against those that had the power to protect us but chose otherwise. Be warned. The darkest part of hell are reserved for those that maintained their neutrality in times of moral crisis.
Whether you're a Muslim, Christian or pagan, we have to come together as one and combat this common evil. It's not a respecter of tribe or religion. It's time we faced it as one. If you haven't noticed, It's bent on seperating us, because even it knows we are stronger as a united front and it won't be able to take us down if we fight united. So let's come together and fight our mutual enemy as one. God protect and save us from all evil and even the evil in us. God bless my Nigeria, your Nigeria, our Nigeria.
